Samaiden Sets to Enhance Maxell Tohshin’s Green Initiative Through Sustainable Solar Energy

PETALING JAYA, 8 MARCH 2024 Samaiden Group Berhad (“Samaiden”), a renewable energy (“RE”) specialist principally involved in engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (“EPCC”) of solar photovoltaic (“PV”) systems and power plants, is thrilled to announce a strategic Power Purchase Agreement (“PPA”) with Maxell Tohshin (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (“Maxell Tohshin”), a company engaged in the design and manufacture of ultra-precision molds and lens mold technologies ranging from small diameters for image optics to thick and larger diameter for illumination optics. It also produces precision plastic optical lenses and the assembly of camera and automotive parts. This significant agreement, set for a duration of 20 years, marks a pivotal commitment to sustainable energy use in manufacturing, underscoring a mutual dedication to environmental responsibility.

Under this agreement, Samaiden will undertake the design and installation of an advanced solar PV system, boasting a capacity of 1,028.28-kilowatt peak (kWp) at Maxell Tohshin’s premises. This initiative is expected to significantly curtail carbon emissions from manufacturing operations, projecting an estimated carbon dioxide (CO2) avoidance of 974.66 tonnes per year, which aligns with both companies’ visions for a greener industrial future.
