JBL Unveils Retro Elegance and Cutting-Edge Sound with Authentics Line: A Nod to the Past, A Leap into the Future

The L100 bestselling speaker from the 1970s is the inspiration behind the JBL Authentics line, which comes in three models, 200, 300 and 500. Each boasts a unique set of technical specifications yet share a common quality in the rich bass delivered by this series. The legacy inspired set are all encased in a supple leather-like wrap, gold trimmed framing to the Quadrex grille and recessed control panel topping each. All Authentics are equipped with simultaneous voice assistants; Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, giving you the diversity of control over your smart-home devices, play music from various streaming services and allows you voice command freedom any time.
Connectivity via Wi-Fi is pain-free with the JBL One App. Download the app to your smartphone, tablet or computer, the app will guide you through the setup process. It is straightforward and fast! Bluetooth is as quick as pushing the Bluetooth button on the speaker, find the Authentics model on your device, select it and it is paired. JBL did not forego wired options. Connect to your Internet router with an ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port and directly connect an audio device to the 3.5 mm AUX port.
As mentioned previously, the Authentics line is not lacking in full, rich, lows, the Authentics 200 may be the smallest of the line and is the perfect speaker for rooms around 150 square feet or smaller. The 90W pushed through the two 25 mm tweeters and 5-inch woofer, is clean and vibrant, giving the sound quality expected from larger separate speaker systems.
Sitting in front of the Authentics 300, took me back to my teen years, with my friends and family, listening to baseball or music at the park or the beach. This portable is 4.9 kg, pumping 100W of power to two 25mm tweeters and 5.25-inch woofer, is made to throw on your shoulder when roller skating. The JBL Spinner BT is a Bluetooth connectable turntable driven by a belt drive and motor to a die-cast aluminum platter. Analog output is also available from RCA pair ports. The aluminum tone arm is fitted with a removable headshell, adjustable counterweight and adjustable anti-skate. The moving magnet cartridge is an Audio Technica AT3600L, replaceable at the headshell. All these features will bring your vinyl records to life plus ensure minimal wear to the record grooves.
I borrowed some records from a DJ friend, Rapper’s Delight by Sugarhill Gang and Pavarotti Canta Caruso by Luciano Pavarotti. I played both via the Bluetooth with AptX-HD encoding and was surprised at the quality. Although both are vocally highlighted recordings, the backing instruments could be clearly identified and distinguished.
